Pakistan Army Chief Warns of Foreign-Directed Terrorism Amid Rising Border Tensions

The Chief of Army Staff and head of Pakistan’s Defence Forces has stated that “propaganda, fake news, and foreign-sponsored terrorism” cannot halt or divert the country’s progress. Marshal Asim Munir made these remarks during a visit to the city of Quetta, where he met with officers and troops stationed in the Balochistan province.
According to a statement released by the Pakistan Army, he emphasized that hostile forces attempting to disrupt Pakistan’s development through proxies and psychological warfare will ultimately fail due to what he called the “government’s resilience and the people’s unity.”
Munir also spoke about the current security situation, asserting that the country’s armed forces, backed firmly by public support, are committed to eradicating terrorism in all its forms.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, accused the Taliban administration once again of supporting Pakistan’s enemies in an interview with Geo News. He claimed that Kabul is acting as a proxy force for India against Islamabad, adding that if Afghan authorities cannot confront armed Pakistani opposition groups, they should at least refrain from supporting them.
In recent months, Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Taliban administration of providing sanctuary to its armed opponents and alleged that these groups operate from Afghan territory with Indian backing.
Conversely, the Taliban have denied these allegations, stating they will not allow Afghan soil to be used against any country. Nevertheless, the ongoing verbal tensions highlight that relations between Kabul and Islamabad continue to face serious security and political challenges, raising concerns about stability in the border regions.
