Taliban’s Deputy Anti-Narcotics Chief Meets UNODC Head in Kabul to Discuss Cooperation

The Anti-Narcotics Department of the Taliban-run Ministry of Interior announced that Sheikh Abdulrahman Munir, Deputy Head of the department, met with Mr. Ordaragli, the Acting Head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Kabul, to discuss joint cooperation.

According to published information, the meeting took place at the office of the Deputy Anti-Narcotics Chief. Both parties discussed continuing coordination and enhancing cooperation in the fight against narcotics. The deputy stated that the department has always sought to maintain close relations and cooperation with United Nations bodies.

Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the UNODC office praised the activities and achievements of the Anti-Narcotics Department and emphasized the continuation of joint cooperation. At the end of the meeting, both sides pledged to expand their collaboration to combat the narcotics issue.

Afghanistan has been one of the regions plagued by drug cultivation and trafficking for years, a matter that has consistently been a concern for the international community. Despite the Taliban administration’s declared commitment to combating this problem, international organizations stress the necessity for transparency, sustained practical measures, and effective cooperation with the global community.
