UK Special Envoy Discusses Kabul-Islamabad Relations with Suhail Shaheen in Doha

Richard Lindsey, the UK’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, announced that during his meeting with Suhail Shaheen in Doha, ways to improve relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan were discussed. He described the meeting as “useful and valuable.” According to Lindsey, both sides emphasized the importance of taking practical steps to strengthen ties between Kabul and Islamabad. Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have faced political and security challenges in recent years, and diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions continue. The UK Special Representative also stressed the necessity of the participation and presence of Afghan women and girls in society. This comes amid the Taliban administration imposing extensive restrictions on women’s education, work, and social presence, which has become a major concern for the international community. This meeting took place as regional and international efforts to address Afghanistan’s situation and engage with the Taliban administration are ongoing.
