Taliban Administration Denies Threats from Afghan Territory

The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior has dismissed claims by Russia’s Security Council Secretary that Afghanistan’s territory has been used to threaten other countries over the past five years. This statement comes amid Moscow’s previous concerns about security conditions and the activities of extremist groups in the region.
Abdul Mateen Qanai, spokesperson for the ministry, stated that the Taliban administration is responsible for maintaining security and will not allow Afghanistan’s territory to be used against other countries. He emphasized that the administration assures the “international community and regional countries” it will prevent any threatening actions.
In recent years, Russia has repeatedly warned about the potential spread of insecurity from Afghanistan to Central Asia. Despite these concerns, the Taliban administration has consistently rejected such warnings, claiming full control over the entire country.
However, the lack of transparency regarding how security threats are managed, along with the limited access of independent bodies to field information, continues to raise regional questions—questions to which the Taliban administration has yet to provide documented and verifiable answers.
