Taliban Requests Russian Investment in Afghanistan Infrastructure Projects

The Deputy Acting Minister of Economy of the Taliban administration has announced that during a delegation visit to the Russian city of Kazan, officials requested Russian authorities to invest in Afghanistan’s infrastructure projects. According to him, this request was made during official meetings between the two parties.
He added that in addition to investment in fundamental projects, discussions also took place between the Taliban delegation and Russian officials in the transport and health sectors. No further details about the types of projects or potential levels of cooperation have been disclosed.
The Taliban administration is seeking foreign investment amid widespread economic challenges, unemployment, and a decline in development projects following their return to power. Many countries have yet to recognize the administration, which has hindered formal interactions and major investments.
Russia is among the countries that have held contacts and meetings with Taliban officials in recent years, but the scope and framework of economic cooperation between the two sides have not been clearly announced.
