100-Kilogram Bomb Defused in Kabul’s Bagram District

The Disaster Preparedness Directorate announced that a 100-kilogram bomb, remaining from past wars, was discovered in the Haji Manji urban area of Bagram District, Kabul Province, and was safely detonated.

According to the directorate, the bomb was identified during excavation work in a densely populated residential area and posed a serious threat to the lives and property of local residents.

Technical officials from the demining organization Halo Trust stated that the explosive was an OFAB 100/120 aerial bomb containing approximately 42 kilograms of explosive material. They also noted that the bomb’s fuse was active, increasing the risk of a sudden explosion.

According to released information, over 3,200 sacks of sand were used to secure the area. Subsequently, the bomb was transferred to a safe location and detonated under controlled measures.

Afghanistan remains one of the countries still facing threats from explosive remnants of war accumulated over several decades. This ongoing issue endangers the lives of civilians, especially children, across various parts of the country every year.
