New Governor of Faryab Officially Introduced and Begins Work

Mawlawi Mohammad Hanif Hamza was officially introduced as the new governor of Faryab province in a ceremony attended by a delegation from the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, civil and military officials, religious scholars, and tribal elders. He formally began his duties during this event.

The ceremony was also attended by Mawlawi Abdul Haq Makhdoom, Deputy of Planning and Strategy at the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, Hafiz Noorullah Ansar, Director General of Emergency Management and Fire Services, along with several other high-ranking officials. Speakers at the gathering emphasized that administrative changes are a fundamental principle and stressed the continuation of activities under the new governor’s leadership.

Participants said Mawlawi Hanif Hamza was urged to work towards strengthening security, addressing residents’ problems, and coordinating among local departments. The new governor assured full cooperation in fulfilling his responsibilities.

During the ceremony, appreciation was expressed for the work of the former governor, Mawlawi Abdul Ahad Fazli, with an emphasis on sincere service for the welfare of the people of Faryab. It is noteworthy that the appointment of governors by the Taliban administration is made without elections or direct public participation—a matter that has been consistently raised by some residents as a challenge regarding accountability and public engagement.
