Afghanistan’s Arghandab Health Center Now Operates 24/7 on Solar Power

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced that the Kishi Comprehensive Health Center (CHC+) in the Charchino district of Arghandab province is now providing services around the clock, powered by a 30-kilowatt solar energy system.
According to the released information, this solar system ensures sustainable electricity supply for critical sections of the center, including obstetrics and gynecology services, emergency care, vaccination, laboratory work, and water supply.
Charchino is considered one of the remote districts of Arghandab, where access to stable electricity has been a major challenge in delivering healthcare services. The lack of regular electricity in many rural areas of Afghanistan has hindered the provision of vital services to patients, especially mothers and children.
UNDP stated that using solar energy in health centers can serve as a practical solution to improve access of residents in remote areas to essential health services and prevent interruptions in the delivery of critical care.
