UK Sanctions 85 Russian Individuals and Entities Amid Ongoing Ukraine Conflict

The UK government has announced sanctions against 85 Russian individuals and entities as part of a new round of restrictions targeting Moscow. This move comes amid continued tensions between Russia and Western countries over the war in Ukraine.
According to an official statement from London, the newly sanctioned individuals and entities are accused of involvement in the “forcible deportation, brainwashing, and militarization of Ukrainian children,” as well as leading “Russia’s information warfare campaigns.” The UK government also claims that some of these individuals have been involved in efforts linked to interference in Armenia’s elections.
Among those sanctioned are 49 employees of the Russian Social Design Agency (SDA). UK officials stated that these sanctions cover writers, translators, and video producers who, according to London, have played a role in producing and disseminating Kremlin-backed misleading propaganda.
This latest decision was announced just about a week after the UK Treasury imposed sanctions on an additional 10 individuals and 8 Russian entities. With this action, the scope of British sanctions against Russia has expanded further; these measures form part of the Western countries’ strategy to pressure Moscow following the Ukraine conflict.
