Belarus and Poland Exchange Five Prisoners Amidst Ukraine Conflict Tensions

International media have reported that Belarus and Poland have exchanged five prisoners at their shared border; a move taking place amid ongoing tensions between the West and Russia over the Ukraine war.

According to reports, the exchange occurred at the border point between the two countries. Belarus released three Polish nationals, including journalist Andrei Poczobut, and two Moldovan citizens.

In return, Poland freed five Belarusian citizens who are said to have been involved in intelligence activities. Further details about the identities or conditions of their detention have not been disclosed.

Belarus is considered a close ally of Russia, while Poland, as a NATO member, is one of Ukraine’s main supporters in its war against Russia. Media reports indicate that the United States played a role in facilitating this agreement.
