Taliban’s Acting Minister Visits Gypsum Mine and Processing Factory in Qala-e-Naw

Heyatullah Badri, acting head of the Taliban’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, visited the gypsum mine in the central area of Mal Pulow district and the gypsum processing factory in Qala-e-Naw city. The visit aimed to review the mining operations and production processes in these areas.
During the visit, officials from the mine and factory shared the existing challenges and problems faced in gypsum extraction and processing with the accompanying delegation. Badri assured the officials that steps would be taken to resolve the issues raised.
Badghis province is among the regions rich in gypsum and other construction materials, and the extraction of these resources could contribute to the local economic growth. However, experts have consistently emphasized the need for transparency, professional management, and the use of mining revenues for the benefit of local communities—an expectation that the Taliban administration is urged to address seriously under the current circumstances.
