Taliban Officials Discuss Transit and Export Cooperation with Azerbaijan

Afghanistan’s Department of Standards and Quality announced that during a meeting with officials from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, ways to enhance economic cooperation and facilitate the transit and export of Afghan goods were discussed. The meeting took place during the official visit of Mullah Faizullah Tamim, head of the department, to Baku.
According to the released statement, Tamim met with Rahman Dursunoglu Hemtov, Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Taliban administration and the head of Afghanistan’s state oil and gas company.
The head of the Department of Standards and Quality emphasized the importance of standards and quality control in increasing exports and stressed the need to provide effective transportation and transit facilities. He stated that easier access to transit routes could pave the way for Afghan products to reach European markets.
Both sides also discussed simplifying export procedures and expanding economic cooperation. Azerbaijani officials stressed the continuation of cooperation to facilitate the transit of Afghan goods through their country’s routes.
The Department of Standards and Quality stated that it will continue standardizing domestic production to strengthen exports and ensure the sustainable presence of Afghan goods in regional and global markets.
