21 People Arrested in Baghlan for Possession of Alcohol

The Baghlan Police Command has announced the arrest of 21 individuals from a residential house in the province on charges of possessing alcoholic beverages. Their cases will be referred to judicial and legal authorities after investigation.

Shir Ahmad Barahani, spokesperson for the Baghlan Police Command, stated that these individuals were arrested from a residential home. According to him, security forces also seized several bottles of wine, a distillation apparatus, and some musical instruments during the operation.

No further details have been released regarding the identities of those arrested, the circumstances of the arrests, or their current condition. The Taliban administration has not yet clarified whether these individuals will have access to legal representation or a transparent trial process.

In recent years, the Taliban government has imposed extensive restrictions on the use of alcoholic beverages and the playing of music, arresting individuals on multiple occasions for violating these rules. These actions have consistently raised concerns among human rights organizations regarding adherence to fair trial principles.
