28 Arrested for Drug Trafficking in Nangarhar Province

The Nangarhar Police Department has announced that over the past week, 28 individuals have been arrested in connection with drug trafficking in the province.

According to a statement released by the department, authorities seized 4,958 grams of various narcotics, 1,141 narcotic tablets, 40 grams of hashish, 37 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 14 grams of opium, and 2 grams of heroin from the detainees. Further details regarding the exact types of some substances were not provided.

Based on the police information, the arrested individuals have confessed to their crimes and are scheduled to be referred to judicial and legal authorities after the completion of initial investigations.

The Nangarhar Police emphasized that cultivation, trafficking, buying, and selling of narcotics is strictly prohibited, and legal action will be taken against anyone involved in such activities.

This announcement comes despite the Taliban administration’s declared ban on narcotics cultivation and trafficking. Reports from some areas indicate that the drug problem persists, highlighting the need for greater transparency regarding counter-narcotics efforts and the tangible outcomes of these measures.
