Taliban Forces Seize Drugs and Alcohol Factories in Kabul, Kandahar, and Ghazni

The Taliban’s Interior Affairs Department has announced that, following several separate operations by anti-narcotics forces, significant quantities of drugs and two alcohol production factories have been uncovered and confiscated in Kabul, Kandahar, and Ghazni provinces.

According to published information, 6,636 drug pills were seized in Kabul province. In Kandahar, 22 kilograms of hashish along with more than 3,000 additional pills were discovered. Additionally, in a separate operation in Ghazni province, two alcohol production factories were identified and seized.

In connection with these incidents, nine individuals have been arrested. Taliban officials stated that after completing the investigation files, the detainees will be referred to judicial authorities.

Despite the Taliban administration’s consistent rhetoric about serious efforts to combat narcotics, experts emphasize that an effective fight against drug trafficking requires transparency, accountability, and sustainable economic programs for residents of vulnerable areas—issues for which clear implementation details have yet to be provided.
