Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health Denies Rumors of Official Arrests

The Ministry of Public Health today issued a statement rejecting reports that several employees of the ministry had been arrested by security agencies, calling these reports “baseless.” The statement clarified that the news about the detention of some ministry officials by the Taliban’s intelligence directorate is not true, and the ministry categorically denies it. Since yesterday, social media has circulated reports suggesting that a Taliban intelligence directorate had detained several senior officials of the Ministry of Public Health on charges of administrative corruption. So far, the Taliban’s security agencies have not provided any separate clarification regarding these allegations. In recent years, arrests of officials and employees from various departments by intelligence services have frequently raised questions about the transparency of investigative procedures, as details have not been clearly disclosed to the media.
