Taliban Authorities Announce Forced Return of 99 Families to Afghanistan

The Taliban administration has announced that 99 families, totaling 437 individuals, were forcibly returned to Afghanistan yesterday.
According to a report released on Saturday, November 7, by Hamdullah Fetrat, Deputy Spokesperson for the Taliban administration, out of this number, 36 families comprising 181 people were returned via the Torkham crossing.
Additionally, it has been reported that 4 families totaling 22 people returned through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar, and 51 families consisting of 209 individuals entered Afghanistan through the Pul-e-Abresham (Silk Bridge) crossing in Nimroz. Furthermore, 8 families with 25 members were returned via the Islam Qala crossing in Herat.
These forced returns occur amid repeated warnings from international organizations regarding human rights violations against refugees and migrants, emphasizing the non-consensual nature of these actions. The Taliban’s move has widespread negative consequences for the returning families and Afghan society, which is already facing numerous crises.
