Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture Approves Books Aligning with Islamic and Afghan Values

The Book Evaluation Commission of the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture held a recent meeting to review and decide on several books. During the session, permission to publish was granted to books deemed consistent with Islamic and Afghan values.

Members of the commission also distributed more than 20 book titles among themselves for further review, with reports to be presented in upcoming meetings. These decisions come amid growing concerns over the Taliban administration’s increasing restrictions on cultural and educational content, which have heightened fears about freedom of expression and cultural production in Afghanistan.
