Student Protesters Clash with Police in Anti-Government Demonstrations in Albania

Dozens of students in Albania have demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama during recent protests outside the Ministry of Education. The gatherings, held in the past days, escalated into clashes between protesters and police forces. Police used water cannons in an attempt to disperse the demonstrators.
Protesters faced police resistance as they attempted to march towards the Prime Minister’s office. Reports indicate that several trash bins were set on fire and windows were broken during the unrest.
Albania has witnessed months of anti-government protests, which have turned violent between citizens and police since mid-October. These demonstrations initially started as opposition to a controversial Trump family project on the Albanian coast, gradually expanding into wider protests against the government.
