UN Humanitarian Air Service Completes Over 1,500 Flights in Afghanistan

The World Food Programme announced that the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS) conducted more than 1,500 flights in Afghanistan during the first nine months of 2026. These flights facilitated access for 85 humanitarian organizations to vulnerable communities, delivering vital aid to those in need. Conducting such air operations in Afghanistan holds great significance due to security restrictions and the challenging accessibility of many needy areas. The United Nations, through this service, seeks to reduce barriers to the delivery of humanitarian assistance and ensure essential services reach the people.
