Taliban Interior Ministry Spokesman Urges World to Condemn Drug Trafficking from Pakistan

Muttaqi? No. Abdul Matin Qane, spokesman for the Taliban-run Interior Ministry, has said that the cultivation and processing of narcotics continue in Pakistan’s Balochistan province and that the drugs are being smuggled to neighbouring countries, including Afghanistan.
According to him, these activities have had a broad negative impact on Afghanistan’s security and stability and require the immediate attention of the international community.
Qane called on the United Nations and international organisations to condemn the cultivation, production and trafficking of narcotics in Pakistan and to take effective measures to stop it.
Drug trafficking has been one of the region’s long-standing problems, fuelling insecurity, violence and addiction in Afghanistan, while also continuing to strengthen the illegal economy and corruption in the country.
