Pakistan Says Military Operations in Afghanistan Targeted Militants After Attacks

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday, 4 November, in a statement that its military operations on Afghan soil were directed only at terrorists and their support bases. The ministry rejected Taliban claims of civilian casualties during the operations and said the spread of false information could not obscure the threat posed by terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan.
According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry statement, attacks that the country says were launched from Afghan territory killed more than 3,500 people in 2026. Islamabad also accused the Taliban of providing safe havens for armed groups and called on the international community to exert the necessary pressure on them so they do not allow Afghan soil to be used for attacks against Pakistan.
Pakistan, while stressing the rise in cross-border attacks since the Taliban came to power in 2021, said it reserves the right to take any necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and the security of its citizens. The Taliban, meanwhile, have consistently rejected these allegations and insist that Afghan territory is not being used against any country.
