Taliban Economy Minister Discusses Development Cooperation Challenges With Japan

Qari Din Mohammad Hanif, the Taliban administration’s minister of economy, met with Kenichi Masamoto, Japan’s ambassador, and Toshiro Sota, head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to discuss expanding economic cooperation and continuing humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan.
The Taliban-run Ministry of Economy said the main topics of the talks were development projects and efforts to provide support in areas such as alternative livelihoods, health, education and combating climate change.
However, the continued presence of foreign investors and aid organisations in Afghanistan has always faced challenges because of the Taliban administration’s management and restrictive policies, which have affected efforts to improve the country’s economic and social conditions.
