During the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan, Hafiz Ahmad Jan Zadran, deputy technical head of the Afghanistan Football Federation, met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The meeting discussed the current state of football in Afghanistan and the challenges ahead.

Zadran told Tolo News that they had asked FIFA to send a qualified team to Afghanistan to assess the situation of football in the country, saying that since the Taliban administration returned to power, no official FIFA representative has visited Afghanistan to review football conditions for more than five years.

The FIFA president, while expressing satisfaction with the performance of Afghanistan’s 15-year-old players in the current tournament, pledged cooperation with the Afghanistan Football Federation. He also assured that a group would soon be sent to the country to carry out a detailed assessment of football in Afghanistan and that FIFA supports the development and progress of football in the country.
