Russia Says It Hit Three Cargo Ships and Port Facilities in Ukraine’s Reni

Russia’s Defence Ministry said three cargo ships and infrastructure at the port of Reni, in the Odesa region near the Romanian border, were hit in attacks by the Russian military, according to Mehr news agency, citing Al Jazeera.

The ministry also claimed that a cargo ship it said was carrying military supplies to the port of Odesa for Ukrainian forces was also struck.

The port of Reni is located on the banks of the Danube River and is considered one of Ukraine’s vital maritime transport routes. In recent weeks, Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukrainian cargo ships and port infrastructure, saying these targets play an important role in transporting weapons and equipment to the Ukrainian army.

The attacks have continued, with negative consequences for the supply of military and economic equipment to Ukraine amid military tensions.
