Erdogan Warns Israel Is Trying to Stoke Unrest in Syria

Turkey’s president has warned against efforts by the Israeli regime to provoke unrest in Syria.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded to what he said were broad efforts by the Israeli regime to create instability in Syria, saying Israel was using all its power to disrupt calm in the country.
Erdogan said the Middle East is embroiled in several escalating crises, adding that the war between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey’s northern neighbourhood is now in its fifth year, and that the conflict between Israel and Palestinians continues despite the signing of numerous agreements. He said the fighting in Yemen has also intensified, while the war against Iran has still not ended.
The Turkish president also said the country had managed difficult regional phases by remaining vigilant and avoiding being drawn into these conflicts.
The remarks come as continuing tensions and foreign interventions in Syria threaten the country’s stability and security, as well as that of the wider region. Erdogan’s emphasis on the Israeli regime’s role in fuelling insecurity reflects growing concern over the political and humanitarian consequences of these tensions for people across the region.
