Afghan trade delegation signs $55 million in deals in Kazakhstan

An Afghan trade delegation made up of representatives from 10 companies has signed five business contracts worth a total of $55 million with Kazakh companies during a visit to Kostanay province in Kazakhstan.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment said the delegation, led by Wahidullah Azizi, a board member and head of the chamber’s food committee, took part in the international event “After the Harvest; Agricultural Season 2026.”
According to the published information, $40 million of the contracts is allocated to the purchase of wheat and other agricultural products, while the remaining $15 million is for flour purchases.
The agreements were finalised during direct business talks and an exhibition of agricultural machinery and products. The stated aim of the meetings was to create direct links between Kazakh producers and Afghan buyers.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment said the new contracts could increase imports of wheat and flour from Kazakhstan and help expand Afghan exports to regional markets.
The visit took place under the two countries’ joint roadmap to raise the value of trade between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan to $3 billion in the coming years.
Official figures show that the value of trade between the two countries reached $581.1 million in the first seven months of 2026, more than the total trade volume in 2025, which stood at $541.6 million. Economic experts have described these contracts as a practical step towards moving closer to the $3 billion trade target between the two countries.
