U.S. Condemns Riyadh Airport Attack, Says American Killed

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia and said a U.S. citizen was killed in the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

In a statement, the U.S. secretary of state said the attacks “must stop now” and stressed that Washington “stands with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

The remarks came after Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said Saturday’s attack on Riyadh airport left 12 people dead. According to the authority, four of the victims were Saudi citizens and two were Bangladeshi nationals, while the others who were killed were reported to be from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.

The authority also said 309 other people were injured in the incident and that the condition of several of the wounded was critical. According to Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, the attack also damaged parts of the airport’s property and facilities.
