Dmitriev Says Europe Needs Russian Energy to Get Through Winter

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and a senior aide to the country’s president, has claimed that Europe needs Russian energy resources to make it through winter. His remarks come as energy prices rise across European countries.

Dmitriev wrote on the social media platform X: “Winter is coming… Europe needs Russian energy to survive.” He also accused the European Union of making “stubborn and ideological” mistakes in the energy sector, saying the bloc is now facing the consequences.

Dmitriev has previously said that European countries have paid a significant price after turning away from Russian energy.
