Turkmen Ambassador Says Herat Section of TAPI Project to Be Completed by Year-End
Tajjan Moolamov, Turkmenistan’s ambassador to Pakistan, said the construction of the Sarhadabad-Herat section of the TAPI project is expected to be completed by the end of this calendar year.
According to Uzbek media on Tuesday, 31 September, Moolamov said that once this section is completed, the way will be cleared for natural gas to begin flowing to Afghanistan in 2027.
He made the remarks during the “Ambassadors’ Dinner 2026” programme, which was organised by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Islamabad.
Moolamov also said that implementing the TAPI project and other regional energy projects could help ensure a stable energy supply and create new opportunities for Pakistan’s industrial and economic growth.
According to the Turkmen ambassador, his country views the TAPI project as one of the important routes for providing cleaner energy, sustainable economic growth in the region and strengthening regional cooperation.
The TAPI project is a gas pipeline carrying Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India and is regarded as one of the region’s major energy initiatives.
