US-Israeli War on Iran Deepens Europe’s Jet Fuel Shortage

The continued US-Israeli war on Iran and disruption to global supply will leave Europe facing a daily shortfall of 510,000 barrels of jet fuel in the fourth quarter of the year.

Reuters, citing the consultancy Energy Aspects, reported that the deficit is expected as the war has disrupted the supply chain for the product in global markets.

According to the report, nearly half of Europe’s jet fuel imports have been disrupted as a result of the conflict, further increasing pressure on the continent’s energy market.

Meanwhile, South Korea has increased jet fuel exports to Europe. Data from commodity intelligence firm Kpler shows that Europe’s imports from South Korea so far in September have risen to 129,000 barrels per day, a figure described as the highest since October 2022.

Jet fuel is one of the key products for the aviation industry, and any disruption to its supply could affect costs and the operations of airlines.
