UNICEF Highlights Afghanistan’s Preventive Action Experience at Global Forum
Tajudeen Oyewale, the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Afghanistan, said the agency’s experience with preventive measures in Afghanistan had been shared at the “Global Forum on Impact Assessment.”
He wrote on X on Tuesday, 31 September, that acting before a crisis occurs, based on evidence, pre-arranged financing and strengthened local capacities, can increase communities’ ability to cope with crises.
According to Oyewale, the meeting was held in cooperation with UNICEF, the UN Refugee Agency, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the World Food Programme and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
Afghanistan has repeatedly faced humanitarian crises and natural disasters in recent years. Drought, floods and earthquakes are among the events that have affected families in a number of provinces in the country and left widespread damage.
