Talks in Kabul Continue to Accelerate TAPI Power Project
Breshna has announced that Abdulhaq Hamkar, the head of the company, held talks in Kabul with Murad Artykov, the head of the 500-kV Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission project, on speeding up implementation of the project.
According to a statement released by Breshna on Saturday, 28 Sunbula, Artykov travelled to Kabul at the head of a delegation, and the meeting with company officials focused on advancing the remaining parts of the TAP project.
Breshna said the meeting discussed completion of unfinished work at the Noorul Jihad substation in Herat province, supplying electricity to the Bala Murghab district in Badghis province, and the project’s implementation details.
The statement said the TAP project chief expressed satisfaction with the progress made and the determination to accelerate completion of the project. It also quoted him as saying that Turkmenistan and the TAP project management were committed to continuing cooperation to complete the remaining work in Herat, bring electricity to Bala Murghab and carry out other related projects.
Major regional projects, including the TAP power transmission line and the TAPI gas pipeline project, were launched during the republican administration; however, they were halted after the Taliban took power. Although work on these projects resumed two years ago, implementation is still at an early stage.
