Russia Says It Struck Cargo Ship Carrying Military Supplies in Odesa

Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces have struck a cargo ship carrying military equipment for Ukrainian forces in the port of Odesa.

According to the ministry, the attack on the vessel was carried out as part of Russia’s continued operations against ports and ships that it says support the Ukrainian armed forces.

In a statement, the Russian Defence Ministry claimed the ship was transporting military equipment for Ukrainian forces. It did not provide further details on the extent of any damage or possible casualties.

According to Russian officials, attacks on Ukrainian ships and storage facilities have been carried out daily since mid-July. Russian officials have also said that in the past three years, about 8,000 ships carrying military cargo have used the ports of Odesa.

Odesa is one of Ukraine’s most important ports on the Black Sea coast and has repeatedly been targeted by Russian attacks during the war.
