Qatar Rejects Prolonged ‘No War, No Peace’ Status in Region
Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson has said that the continuation of a state of “no war and no peace” in the region is unacceptable, adding that Doha will continue its efforts to preserve regional and international security and peace.
Majed Al Ansari said on Saturday, referring to ongoing tensions in the region, that Qatar is working with regional partners and China to resume talks between Washington and Tehran. He added that a return to diplomacy requires political will on both sides.
Al Ansari also described the Strait of Hormuz remaining open as important for Qatar and all countries in the region. At the same time, he stressed Doha’s role in mediation efforts.
In another part of his remarks, the Qatari foreign ministry spokesperson accused Israel of launching smear campaigns against Doha after its moves in the region were exposed. According to him, Israeli officials are aware of Qatar’s role, and this pressure will not prevent Doha from continuing its efforts.
He called the allegations against Qatar “false and baseless” and said the country’s efforts in mediation and humanitarian activities in the Gaza Strip and Palestinian territories are internationally recognised.
In recent years, Qatar has played an active role in several regional پروندهs, including mediating between the parties involved and pursuing humanitarian aid for Gaza. The Strait of Hormuz is also regarded as one of the region’s key energy transport routes.
