United Front says it targeted Taliban intelligence agents in Kandahar and Ghazni
The Afghanistan United Front said its fighters carried out two separate operations on Saturday night in Kandahar and Ghazni provinces, targeting two members of the Taliban administration’s intelligence service.
In two videos it released, the front claimed the men targeted had been involved in the detention, torture and killing of civilians. According to the front’s statements, one of the attacks took place in the Pul Nasaji area of Daman district in Kandahar province.
The front said the second operation was carried out in the Ghajur bazaar area of Qarabagh district in Ghazni province, killing a member of the Taliban administration’s intelligence service. It gave no details on any further casualties or consequences of the incidents.
Taliban officials have so far said nothing about the attacks. The United Front’s claims have not been independently verified.
The United Front has repeatedly reported attacks on Taliban administration forces in recent days. On Saturday, 13 September, it also said two members of the Taliban administration’s intelligence service were killed in Helmand province.
Kandahar province is located in southern Afghanistan and Ghazni in the southeast. In recent years, they have been among the areas where reports of activity by groups opposed to the Taliban administration have been published.
