Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor says efforts under way to reopen trade routes with Afghanistan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said that effective steps are being taken to reopen trade routes between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He added that for the past 11 months, all movement and trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan have been suspended, and that this situation has caused serious harm to local workers, including importers and exporters on both sides.

According to him, the resumption of legal trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan is not only important for traders in both countries, but also for the economy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and for employment in the province.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor stressed that, for this reason, all relevant parties must take serious action in this regard.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a province in northwestern Pakistan that borders Afghanistan, and a significant share of land trade between the two countries takes place through routes in this province.
