New Poll in Israel Shows Declining Support for Netanyahu

Israel’s Channel 12 has reported rising public dissatisfaction with Benjamin Netanyahu’s performance, with 83% of respondents saying he is responsible for Israel’s major failure in the face of the Oct. 7 attack.

According to the report, most poll participants said they would prefer someone other than Netanyahu to serve as prime minister. The poll results also show that Netanyahu’s rival bloc in the occupied territories enjoys a better standing.

The report comes as criticism of Netanyahu’s handling of the aftermath of the Oct. 7 attack continues. Earlier, former Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett also sharply criticised his performance.

Bennett said Netanyahu was using a policy of “spreading lies” and turning the security forces into an enemy in an attempt to clear himself of direct responsibility for the Oct. 7 attack. The Oct. 7 operation, referred to in Palestinian media as “Al-Aqsa Storm,” has become one of the main focal points of Israel’s political crisis.
