Taliban Administration Opens New Block in Kabul’s Peace Township

The Taliban administration has announced the opening of block “B4” in the Peace Township project in Kabul’s Microrayan V area, a housing and urban development project being discussed at a time when access to standard housing remains one of the country’s basic and unresolved needs.

Najibullah Hayat Haqqani, the acting minister of urban development and housing in the Taliban administration, said at the opening ceremony that the ministry seeks to ensure that urban development and housing construction activities are carried out on the basis of specific plans.

He made the remarks at the inauguration of block “B4” of the Peace Township project, known as Microrayan V. The report did not provide further details about the block’s capacity, the number of residential units, or the completion timeline for other parts of the project.

Microrayan V is one of Kabul’s urban areas, and housing projects in such districts are usually presented as a way to expand access to housing in the capital, although the provision of standard housing remains a major challenge for many city residents in Afghanistan.
