Taliban Officials in Indonesia Discuss Expanding Trade Ties

Afghanistan’s embassy in Indonesia says officials from the Taliban administration and representatives of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry have discussed ways to expand economic and trade relations between the two countries.

According to the embassy, Shoaib Barialai, the first political head at the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Saadullah بلوچ, acting head of the Taliban administration’s embassy in Jakarta, and Mufti Hamka Rajo Bhasa, chairman of the Permanent Committee on International Treaties at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The statement said the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the private sectors of the two sides, holding joint trade exhibitions and reviewing existing opportunities to develop economic ties.

The Taliban side also raised investment and trade opportunities in Afghanistan and claimed that improved security and stability have created a better environment for traders and investors.

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is considered one of the country’s important private-sector bodies, and Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is one of the main centers of political and economic relations in Southeast Asia.
