Report Says Israel Has Backed Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces

A new report on Israel’s involvement in Sudan’s civil war says the country has maintained contact with the Rapid Support Forces as fighting continues.

The Africa Intelligence website reported that leaders of the militia, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, have not cut off contact with Israel since the war began in Sudan and have also made trips to Tel Aviv during this period.

According to the report, Rapid Support Forces officials travelled to Tel Aviv in May 2025 and February 2026 to meet with officials from the African department of Israel’s foreign ministry and officers from the country’s intelligence service.

The report said Abdel Rahim Hamdan Dagalo, Hemedti’s deputy and his brother Al-Qoni, were also present on these trips. It also said Israel has been providing surveillance equipment and other military hardware to the militia since 2021 through a channel linked to Mossad.

The report said this cooperation has continued even as Israel has simultaneously strengthened its official ties with Sudan’s government. Sudan is located in northeast Africa and has been a scene of competition and intervention by various regional and foreign actors since the civil war began.
