Netanyahu says diplomatic deal with Iran is impossible after talks with Trump
Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s criminal prime minister, has claimed after talks with US President Donald Trump that reaching a diplomatic deal with Iran is not possible.
Speaking late on Tuesday at a ceremony in an Israeli settlement in the West Bank, he said no agreement with Iran would be reached. Netanyahu also used derisive language toward Iranian officials, in reference to his recent conversation with Trump, and said he doubted the possibility of any deal with them.
According to Agence France-Presse, Netanyahu, while rejecting the diplomatic path, also backed new US economic pressure on Iran and said it was a stronger alternative to renewed military action.
The remarks come as the International Criminal Court in The Hague previously issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes, crimes against humanity and using starvation as a weapon against the people of Gaza.
Netanyahu is one of the main decision-makers in the Gaza war and in Israel’s regional policies. The West Bank is also among the occupied Palestinian territories, where Israeli settlement building has long faced widespread international criticism.
