Taliban Authorities Announce Discovery of 42 New Mines in Panjshir

The Panjshir Department of Mines and Petroleum under Taliban administration has announced the discovery and confirmation of 42 new mines of tourmaline, green garnet, and emerald in the districts of Anaba, Hisa Awal, and Paryan. The process to issue extraction licenses has already begun.

Mawlawi Mohammad Qasim Amiri, head of Panjshir’s Mines and Petroleum Department, stated that these mines include two tourmaline mines in the Anaba and Hisa Awal districts, 12 green garnet mines in Anaba, and 28 emerald mines in Hisa Awal and Paryan districts.

According to officials from the department, the identification of these mineral sites resulted from specialized surveys and the work of engineering teams and experts. Hafez Naqibullah Sultani, the general director of the Geological Survey of the department, said that technical and geological evaluations were carried out before the final confirmation of the mines.

The officials added that after completing the legal procedures, the official extraction program for these mines will begin. The mining sector is considered a significant source of public revenue in Afghanistan, and its management and utilization have always attracted public interest.
