Cuba Denounces New US Report as ‘Propaganda and Hostile’
Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has rejected a report released by the US State Department on July 20 alleging ‘subversive influence’ by Cuba, calling it a propaganda move to justify Washington’s hostile policies.
In a statement, the ministry said the report repeats “baseless” claims that Cuba poses a threat to US national security—claims that Havana says are used as a pretext to intensify economic sanctions and impose what it terms “collective punishment” on the Cuban people.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry also emphasized that the United States spends millions of dollars each year from its federal budget on programs that aim to destabilize Cuba internally and create economic and social crises to bring about a political regime change.
The statement further accused Washington of having a long history of intervening in other countries’ internal affairs, violating international laws, and interfering in political and electoral processes. Cuba also dismissed its inclusion on the US list of state sponsors of terrorism as unsubstantiated and said the ongoing economic sanctions—despite repeated international calls for their removal—have led to the United States’ increasing isolation in the United Nations.
