Taliban Ministry of Finance Holds Meeting with Private Sector on Tax and Customs Issues

The Taliban’s Ministry of Finance announced that in a joint meeting with representatives of the private sector, discussions were held on resolving tax and customs problems and strengthening bilateral cooperation. According to the ministry, improving tax services, expanding electronic systems, and increasing transparency were the main topics of the meeting.

The Ministry officials emphasized that the process of providing tax services should become simpler and more efficient to facilitate economic activities in the country. They also referred to plans to develop digital systems in the tax and customs sectors aimed at reducing bureaucracy and preventing operational issues.

During the meeting, private sector representatives shared their views and suggestions regarding existing challenges. The Ministry of Finance assured that these proposals would be seriously considered.

Economic activists have consistently stressed that transparency in the tax and customs system, along with the establishment of a responsive mechanism, plays a crucial role in attracting investor trust and promoting the country’s economic growth — a goal that requires specific and sustained actions by the Taliban administration.
