Afghan Girls Say Online Learning Cannot Replace School and University Education

A number of Afghan girls who have been barred from attending school and university following educational restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration say that while online learning provides a way to continue their studies, it can never substitute for in-person classroom education.

These girls emphasize that virtual learning cannot compensate for direct interaction with teachers, class discussions, and a structured educational environment. According to them, the absence of physical presence in the educational setting negatively affects the quality of learning and their motivation to continue their studies.

In addition, technical problems have posed significant challenges. Frequent power outages, weak internet connections, and the lack of necessary devices such as computers and smartphones have made the online learning process difficult for many residents of the country.

The widespread deprivation of girls from attending schools in person continues while educational institutions in many countries consider face-to-face learning a fundamental principle of education. The ongoing situation has heightened concerns about the academic and professional futures of Afghan girls. So far, the Taliban administration has not presented a clear solution to address these restrictions.
