Third Section of Kabul’s Gulbagh Road 35% Complete, On Track for 2024 Completion

The Kabul Municipality Press Office has announced that construction on the third section of Gulbagh Road, stretching from Gulbagh Bridge to the Chehel Dokhtaran area, is progressing steadily at 35 percent completion. This project is scheduled to be finished and operational within the current year. According to the office, once completed, this route will connect western Kabul to the southern parts of the city, facilitating easier travel for residents.
Municipality officials state that completing this road will help reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity between different city districts. Gulbagh Road is considered one of Kabul’s key economic and transit routes, playing a significant role in urban transportation.
The road is being constructed to technical standards, spanning 5,314 meters in length and 33 meters in width. The project includes building 14,000 cubic meters of retaining walls, 21 reinforced concrete culverts, drainage systems, sidewalks, central roadway planters, lighting systems, road profiling, and other essential infrastructure components.
Kabul Municipality officials further emphasized that all project phases are continuously monitored from technical and engineering perspectives to ensure quality standards and timely completion. They affirmed that urban infrastructure projects will proceed in accordance with technical standards.
