WHO Donates New Cancer Control Equipment to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health

The World Health Organization, in an official meeting, handed over essential medical equipment to the National Cancer Control Program of the Ministry of Public Health. The event was attended by the Qatari ambassador to Afghanistan along with several international partners.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Public Health, the equipment was delivered to the hospital specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer-related diseases under the ministry. The purpose is to strengthen diagnostic and treatment services for cancer patients. The meeting emphasized the continuation and expansion of collaborations to improve health services in the cancer sector.

Mawlawi Abdulwali Haqani, Deputy Minister for Health Service Delivery at the Ministry of Public Health, described the WHO as a key partner of the ministry and stated that the meeting was not only about handing over equipment but also symbolized joint cooperation in various health sectors.

Additionally, Dr. Khalid Ahmad Khalid, Technical and Scientific Deputy of the National Cancer Control Program, provided detailed information about the activities and capacities of the cancer diagnosis and treatment hospital and highlighted the need to further develop diagnostic and treatment facilities.

The Qatari ambassador and WHO representatives also expressed their readiness to continue cooperation, emphasizing support for the development of the health sector and the strengthening of medical services, especially in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The parties concluded by discussing and exchanging views on expanding joint cooperation in the health sector and enhancing services for cancer patients.
