Collaboration Agreement Signed to Develop Tourism Education in Afghanistan

The Institute of Tourism and Hospitality affiliated with the Investigation and Development Directorate of the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Emirati company Afghan Tour to expand educational and professional cooperation in the tourism sector.
According to a report by Bakhtar Agency, the MoU was signed in the presence of several Taliban administration officials, including Mawlawi Qudratullah Jamal, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Finance and Administration at the Ministry of Information and Culture, and representatives of the Emirati Afghan Tour company. The cooperation document was finalized between Mawlawi Mohammad Zaman Naseri, head of the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, and Noor Mohammad Hassan Khil, head of Trade and Marketing at Afghan Tour.
Under the terms of this memorandum, both parties will collaborate on preparing tourist guides, organizing training programs and joint seminars, enhancing the capacity of tourist guides and managers, providing internship opportunities for students, implementing research projects, and evaluating the quality of tourism services.
The participating officials described this initiative as a step towards the development of the tourism industry. This comes at a time when Afghanistan’s tourism sector has faced serious challenges in recent years due to extensive restrictions, decreased international engagement, and a lack of standard infrastructure. Many sector activists are calling for transparent policies, practical support, and a more open environment to promote growth in the industry.
Experts believe the success of such agreements is guaranteed only when training and development programs are practically implemented, allowing for broader participation of the private sector and access to regional markets.
