Taliban Foreign Minister MetQi Discusses Trade Expansion with Bangladesh Parliament Speaker

Amir Khan MetQi, the Taliban administration’s Foreign Minister, during his visit to Tehran, held talks with Hafizuddin Ahmed, the Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament, focusing on expanding bilateral relations with an emphasis on trade cooperation. In this meeting, both parties stressed utilizing existing capacities to strengthen economic ties.

According to the Taliban foreign ministry’s statement, MetQi described the trade potentials between Afghanistan and Bangladesh as significant and stated that Kabul and Dhaka could boost their economic growth by activating these potentials.

In response, the Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament, referring to the historical relations between the two countries, considered the development of trade cooperation an important opportunity for both sides. He emphasized that such cooperation could play a particularly effective role in Afghanistan’s economic reconstruction.

Bangladesh is located in South Asia and has witnessed remarkable growth in industry and exports in recent years; a factor that could create new avenues for economic interactions with Afghanistan.
